2009 Block of the Month and Challenge

Monday, March 9, 2009

I should have mentioned this in the minutes but last meeting the guild voted to do a Log Cabin quilt challenge and to do the Double Stars Sampler quilt for the block of the month.

The Double Stars Sampler comes from Judy Martin's Knockout Blocks and Sampler Quilts. The book has much more than just the 12 blocks we'll do for this quilt. It is really worth getting.

March 2009 Business Meeting Minutes

President Pam Unruh called the Scrappy Quilter's Guild business meeting to order on March 9, 2009 at 6:03 PM. Twenty members and one guest were present.

Attendance: Dot Holmes, Kristina Parmer, Pam Unruh, Karen Gentsch, Mary Stinnet, Mary Smith, Marie Dixon, Dorothy Sauder, Pat Gobbel, Linda Morris and guest Kim, Emilie Stone, Sandy Blake, Pat Wells, Marguerite Causby, Ruby Adler, Debbie Baue, Robbie Fields, Carrie Staats, Jeanette Oblander, Misty Fortenberry

Reading: Dot Holmes

Visitors: Linda Morris' friend Kim.

Minutes and Treasurer's report: Ruby Adler, Mary Smith and Mary Stinnet do not have email and would like the newsletter mailed to them. Marie Dixon made a motion to accept the minutes as printed in the newsletter and Kristina Parmer seconded the motion.

Sunshine Report: I did not get the report in my notes. I sent a request to Dot and will update the post once I hear back from her. - KG

Charity Report: Marie Dixon received 4 quilts form Dorothy Sauder. Marie has 3 more quilt tops that she would like other people to quilt. Marie has an idea of making cat blocks for charity quilts. She passed out patterns and demonstrated how to make the block. Please make one or more blocks and bring them to the April business meeting. The directions were missing that on the Main fabric you also need one 8 ½ X 3 ½ inch rectangle for the main body of the cat.
