July 2009 Business Meeting

Monday, July 13, 2009

The July 2009 business meeting of the Scrappy Quilters Guild called to order by President Pam Unruh on July 13, 2009 at 6:06 PM. 16 members attended the meeting including new member, Tricia Waters, Pam's daughter. Pam and her daughter have been teaching Pam's granddaughter to sew, and hopefully next month her granddaughter will join us as well.

Reading

Debbie Baue read from “In Good Hands” from Heavenly Patchwork II.

Secretary and Treasurer's Report
Pat Gobbel moved and Jeanette seconded that we approve the secretary's report as printed in the newsletter.

Sunshine Committee
Dot Holmes reported that she sent one birthday card to Jeanette Oblander and a Thinking of You card to Kristina Parmer. Kristina's husband had surgery.

Charity Committee
Marie Dixon reported that we had a great work night and many people would like to do it again. The group decided to have a charity quilt work night any 5th Monday of the month. That means that the next charity quilt work night is August 31st.

Old Business
Pam Unruh has a locked storage cabinet in the library storage room. The cabinet will hold guild items such as batting, charity quilts waiting to be finished, the banner, etc.

New business
  • Pam Unruh will teach the Paper Pieced Stained Glass Petunia Block for the July 27th work night. She recommends we all bring an “Add a Quarter” ruler. We will be using freezer paper to piece the block. Pam will bring some in case anyone is unable to bring their own. You can get freezer paper at Piggly Wiggly, Walmart and maybe Ingalls.

  • Pat Gobbel will be teaching us to make quillows at the August 24th work night. The book says to bring 2 ½ yards each of 2 fabrics. If you are making the quillow for a child you might want bring 2 yards of each fabric as you might want to make a smaller quillow. Pat and Pam will bring examples to the next business meeting.
