Technique

Pat Wells brought a great idea. You can use the glad press and seal wrap for machine quilting. Trace the quilt design on the wrap, stick it to your quilt, then machine quilt along the lines and rip the wrap away when finished.

At our last meeting Pat suggested using Glad Press N Seal for machine quilting. I tried it for hand applique. I stuck it to my pattern and used a magic marker to trace my applique pattern, then cut out the pieces. I stuck the outside to my block and stuck the piece I cut out to my fabric. I used the outer piece as a guide to tell me where to place my applique and used the inner cut piece to show me where to turn the piece under. It worked pretty well. I think I'll try it again.

In embroidery we use what is called, wet-n-gone which is clear enough to use for this purpose. I think it would work for this type of quilting and any that is left, well just wet it and its gone!

Thanks, Pat.

One other thing to note on the press n seal trick. If you use a magic marker, be careful. Mine was a permanent marker, but it still came off on my fingers. Luckily it didn't stain the fabric, just had blue finger tips.
