April 2009 Business Meeting

Pam Unruh called the meeting to order on April 13, 2009 at 6:05 PM. Seventeen members were in attendance.

Reading: Kristina Parmer read Hindsight from Quilter's Home.

Minutes and Treasurer's report: The minutes and treasurer's report were approved as listed in the newsletter.

Sunshine Committee: 1 get well card and no birthdays

Charity Quilt Report: Marie will collect cat blocks until she has enough for a quilt

New Business
  • New Echota Spring Festival is May 2. Pam Unruh will represent the guild. Pam Gobbel will try to go also.

  • Taste of Calhoun is April 25. Ruby Adler, Pat Gobbel, Pam Unruh, Debbie Baue will represent us there.

  • April Work Night will be Quilting 101 - Marie Dixon will teach machine piecing, machine quilting and the machine stitching portion of binding, Dorothy Sauder will do the quilt sandwich, Pam Unruh will do cutting, Karen Gentsch will do hand sewing the binding, and Dot Holmes will do choosing fabric.


Old Business
  • Kristina Parmer collected raffle tickets and money.

  • Marguerite Causby finished the audit and reported that the books looked good.
    Linda Morris handed out the block of the month information.

  • Pat Gobbel made a motion that we make labels for all charity quilts.
    We drew names for Secret Sisters.

Block of the Month Pam Unruh discussed the cornerstones, flying geese settings and story labels to finish the Underground Railroad quilt.

Sew and Tell
  • Marie Dixon – Complete Underground Railroad top

  • Emilie Stone - Quilt from a technique Pat Wells taught. Quilt from leftover triangles, Quilting Panel with embellishments, Complete Underground Railroad top.

  • Dorothy Sauder– Doll top from Margaret King that she tie quilted and a whole cloth quilt for charity.

  • Karen Gentsch -Kitty Block for Marie's quilt.

  • Unruh– Kitty Block for Marie's quilt.

  • Pat Wells - Kitty Block for Marie's quilt.
